Le Immagini della fantasia is an International event which aims to bring to the public eye illustration in its multitude of styles, whilst attempting to capture the unique creative quality of every author’s path within a worldwide context.
The idea of setting up the Exhibition was conceived in 1982 by Štěpán Zavřel, a renowned illustrator from Prague who later moved to Rugolo in Sàrmede. Since then, spurred on by ever-increasing success and the invaluable help of many artists, the Exhibition has shown over 300 works of art from countries all over the world to its numerous visitors each year, taking them on a fabulous journey through the fanciful imagination of each country.
The 22nd of October 2011 sees the official opening of the 29th edition. Over 300 illustrations and around a hundred books from all over the world for yet another thrilling journey through tales, legends and stories from every country narrated in the words of art.
Linda Wolfsgruber will be this year’s guest of honour.
A rich anthology of works is dedicated to this talented artist to discover the exquisiteness of her language. Linda worked closely with Štěpán Zavřel at the beginning of her artistic career and has for some years been a point of reference for the young illustrators attending the : International School of Illustration in Sàrmede.
"The Great Tree of Rebirth – Tales from the Lands of India" is Sàrmede’s tribute to these lands and their ancient culture, which will involve illustrators from numerous countries and some of the pupils at the International School of Illustration. Unpublished pictures, illustrations published in extraordinarily beautiful books, illustrated books created around this year’s theme in collaboration with the Exhibition and much, much more...

There was only one entry for December's topic so we were a bit disappointed to put it mildly. We sure hope this month - even if there's a bit less time - will be more fruit-full.
