Childrens Illustrator Presents: Chitchatting with chuckometti!
:bulletgreen: Hello and welcome to our interview room!
Can you tell us who you are in a nutshell ? Where do you come from, what's your work, and what's your shoe size ? ;)

Hallo Everyone, my name is Monika Schoeffmann, I'm 22 years old and live in Munich in beautiful Bavaria (although currently everyone is going crazy here because of the Oktoberfest ;) . I'm also nearly small enough to fit in a nutshell, I think it would be a cozy place to live. I'm currently studying graphic design and art therapy. I work as a part-time illustrator and designer, usually for books and book covers. My shoe size is 37 in German size.
:bulletgreen: What mediums do you work with, and why those ?
I mostly work digitally

Translating Children's Literature
Every time a book is translated, it takes on a new language, a new culture, new readers, and a new perspective. Translation is very much more than linguistic transfer of meaning: literary translation is a matter of vital and vitalising communication between cultures.
Translating literature for young readers presents a complex challenge for the translator, whose task is to convey the original sense and meaning of a story in another language, choosing the very best language possible for the audience. This rewriting process also involves a cultural transfer and a range of strategies to solve specific issues. In this creative process, the translator is an essential mediator, an instrument that makes it possible fo

Last Monthly Topic: Farewell!

Journal Entry: Thu Mar 13, 2014, 2:30 AM

Hello dear members!

We decided it's time to let go. Let go of this club that has been on "life support" for a very, very long time now and give our full attention to the projects we feel need us more.

It was great being here, seeing your beautiful illustrations and your take on themes.

 Here's a HUGE thank you to those few of you that kept the club going for so long. You kept us going.

We shall log in from time to time and submit your deviations so all is not lost yet, but there won't be any new topics from now on.

Last Monthly Topic: Farewell!

Will it be a happy or a sad one? Let us know.

New theme will start from March 13th (your deviation must be submitted on or after March 13th). This must be a brand new and finished children's illustration, NO DOODLE and NO SKETCH accepted!

Since as of April 2013, all previous topics are now open, when you send us your note with the deviation please refer to which theme you are submitting to.

Also, please, mention the club in your deviation description.

For members only.

Do remember that, if you wanted to submit to this topic but couldn't do it, there's still time!
Send us a note with your submission and we'll add it to the gallery.

the team (Nini and Toia)

So sad to see this group closed :(
Is there a chance to reopen it?
Is there another group that gives out topics for children's illustrators to work on and share art?

My name is Anna and I'm currently working on an interactive, multi device, digital kids book. The story is an urban take on Stone Soup. It's a new kind of children’s popup book to be experienced across a tablet and a smartphone. Each page of text is accompanied by a dynamic illustration that can be modified by content and gestural use of the smartphone. So for example, it's snowing on the first page of the book and the reader can pour snow from the handheld device onto the tablet below, where 3 raccoons are pictured (along with the story text). I am a designer and programmer and I am seeking an illustrator to work on this project ASAP. I also have a budget. No technical skills needed but the timeline for the project is only 12 weeks.

To inquire about the project, email
